Nike's head running coach, Chris Bennett, has been speaking to me a lot recently.
Coach Bennett is the running equivalent of Ted Lasso.
I've been using the Nike Running Club community platform, and part of that is Nike's guided runs.
Having an expert coach you through a run is something magic.
On my last recovery run, he said this;
A recovery run is precisely that. To recover. To recover something that was lost.
Perhaps you've had the energy sucked from your day through meetings, or you're looking to recover the motivation to get back to it.
This struck a chord.
The communities we're cultivating and growing, do they need a recovery run?
Has what was magic from the start been lost?
Does it need a 'slow down' to refocus?
A recovery run is vital for making your next run better.
Without recovery runs, you would never get stronger.
If you ran sprints every time you put on your shoes, you would quickly lose motivation, get injured and stop enjoying the art of running.
When was the last time you stopped sprinting in your community management?
